Footage shows visitors forced to run away from a hydrothermal explosion which sent a dramatic plume of smoke and debris flying into the air.

The “small” hydrothermal explosion took place in Yellowstone National Park’s Biscuit Basin thermal area on Tuesday morning, the United States Geological Survey confirmed.

Officials said there was damage to the boardwalk where folks were standing but no one was injured.

Biscuit Basin, including its parking lot and all of its boardwalks, are currently closed until further notice.
