16-year-old in the hospital with “severe injuries” following crash in Outagamie County

CENTER, Wis. (WFRV) – Authorities in Outagamie County say a 16-year-old is now in the hospital with what they are calling “severe injuries” following a crash Monday evening.

According to a release from the Outagamie County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded around 5:40 p.m. for reports of a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of County Highway O and Mayflower Road in the Town of Center.

Officials say a 16-year-old girl was driving an SUV east on County Highway O and attempted to turn onto Mayflower Road but failed to yield the right away and was hit by an 81-year-old man driving west on County Highway O.

The 16-year-old driver of the SUV was said to be taken to a local hospital after suffering severe injuries while the 81-year-old man was evaluated for minor injuries on the scene.

Deputies say alcohol is not believed to be a factor in this crash but the incident did leave County Highway O closed for about three hours.
